Idaho Transportation Department officials will celebrate their newest infrastructure upgrade this Friday. The much-anticipated reopening of the Broadway Bridge comes right before the first Bronco home football game, when fans will get to walk, bike or drive across the structure which is next to the stadium.

Both Mayor Dave Bieter and Boise State University President Bob Kustra will attend the Friday morning ceremony.

The on-time bridge reopening puts an exclamation point on an already ambitious project timeline. The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) says crews worked round the clock since January, cutting construction time in half. The $20.2 million project replaces the 50-year-old structure with three lanes in each direction, and drivers can begin using the bridge Friday afternoon. Bike lanes on each side of the bridge will run along 10-foot sidewalks.

ITD says the north and south paths of the Greenbelt will be fully open for the weekend as well.
