American Evelyn Stevens Wins Inaugural Exergy Tour

Thousands of people lined 13th street in Hyde Park to cheer on some of the world’s top women pro cyclists Monday. This marked the final stage of the inaugural Exergy Tour. Four fighter jets flew low over the start line Monday morning as the cyclists lined up to begin the race.

Three Rescued After Owyhee County Plane Crash

Three people are expected to be okay following their plane crash over the weekend  in Owyhee County.

Pro Cycling Race Ends Mountain Stage In Idaho City

Some of the world’s top professional women cyclists are in Idaho this Memorial Day weekend to compete in the inaugural Exergy Tour. This marks the largest women’s five-day stage race in North America and is the last big race   before cycling teams are chosen for the Olympics in London.

Rainy Weather Drenches Exergy Tour Racers But Not Spirits

It was a rainy and cold day for women’s pro cycling Saturday. The Exergy Tour continued in Kuna with a ten mile individual time trial. The course, which simulates the time trial that will take place at the 2012 Olympics in London - brought three top finishes for Team Specialized – lululemon.  

American Amber Neben won the race, securing the Exergy Leaders jersey. She posted a time of just over 21 minutes. Her teammates Evelyn Stevens (USA) came in second and Clara Hughes (Canada) finished third.

American Cliff-Ryan Wins First Stage Of Exergy Tour

More than 100 professional women cyclists started the first stage of the Exergy Tour in a steady drizzle Friday. The 76.7 mile course took the racers past Lake Lowell, into the hills along the Snake River and up in the mountains before bringing the cyclists speeding across the finish line in downtown Nampa.

Olympic Cyclist Kristin Armstrong Out Of Exergy Tour

Canadian cyclist Tara Whitten won last night’s  Exergy Tour prologue. She rides for the American team, Tibco – To the Top. Gillian Carleton, who rides for the Canadian National Team, came in second followed by Team Specialized- lululemon's Clara Hughes. 

The three Canadians were at a press conference when Associated Press reporter John Miller asked if they'd heard that Olympic gold medalist Kristin Armstrong had broken her collar bone during the prologue and was out of the Tour. His question was met with shock and sadness.

Execution Lawsuit Heads To Mediation

A lawsuit on viewing Idaho prisoner executions from start to finish is headed to mediation.  Federal judge Edward Lodge today set the negotiating session for June 1st. 

News agencies sued Idaho officials to allow reporters to observe and report any complications during lethal injections.  State officials say they can’t do that.  They want to protect the identity of those who prepare inmates for execution.

Rousing Sermon Belmont Run Still Undecided

Race horse Rousing Sermon may, or may not, run in the Belmont Stakes in June.  The horse was raised at the Tree Top Ranch in Parma.  He became a favorite of Idaho fans when he ran in the Kentucky Derby, where he came in 8th.  He skipped the Preakness, and now his trainers are trying to decide if he’ll give Belmont a go.

Moscow Breaks Ground On New Intermodal Transit Center

University of Idaho and City of Moscow officials held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for a new $2 million Intermodal Transit Center on the Palouse. The facility will be located on the east end of the university campus and serve as a hub for regional buses, taxis, and other transportation services. 

"This type of facility is something that I think is important for our community, that is a community that we are looking to grow in a quality way, toward sustainable development," said university president Duane Nellis.

Idaho’s Inaugural Exergy Tour Goes Big

The inaugural Exergy Tour women’s cycling race kicks off Thursday. It promises to be a major event for Idaho and for women’s professional cycling.

Tour organizers at a press conference Wednesday afternoon introduced some of the athletes. Dave Towle, a professional race announcer, put it this way, “If you look on the timeline of American cycling, this’ll be one of the most significant weeks we’ve ever had.” 

In a question to a rider he described it as, “this is really your Tour de ’France.”

UPDATE: All Stolen Exergy Bikes Recovered By Police

Exergy bikes like this one were stolen overnight in Boise

NEW UPDATE:  The Boise Police Department says all the stolen Exergy bikes have now been recovered.  After the first six were found at Boise State University, police began searching the rest of the campus.  The remaining seven bikes were found, at two other locations on campus.  The bikes appear to be undamaged.  Officers are processing the bikes for evidence as fast as possible, to try to get them back to TIPCO riders who are set to ride in the Exergy Tour tomorrow.
