Boise Puts Out Call For Public Art Proposals On Vista Avenue (Again)

City of Boise
Boise is looking for new art proposals on the Vista Avenue median project.

Boise’s Department of Arts and History has put a call out for two public art projects. The first is for Vista Avenue, which the city has designated as a gateway to Boise and the state. The idea is to fill the medians on the thoroughfare with welcoming public art for visitors arriving from the airport.

This is the second request for submissions on this project; the first one was in April of 2017. In July, the city narrowed the submissions down to four pieces and asked for public feedback.Turns out, there were a number of people who had issues with the designs – and the Boise City Council ultimately agreed.

The Arts and History Department is seeking a new round of ideas for the Vista Avenue project, to be submitted by January 10. The final design will receive up to $150,000 to design and move the pieces in place.

And Treefort Music Fest is working with the city to get interactive performance and new media artists involved with the festival in March. Artists interested in this opportunity have until January 3 to get their proposals in, and – if selected – will be paid up to $5,000 to execute their vision.
