Treasure Valley 'artTours' Kick Off Thursday With Art – By Bus

Surel's Place
This is the first year that all three artTours are taking place.

When you think of art tours, you probably don’t think of hopping on a school bus and bouncing down the road with a group of strangers. But Thursday night, that’s exactly what some folks will do in Boise.

Jodi Eichelberger is the Program Director at Surel’s Place in Garden City. The artist in residency program is one of the stops on tonight's tour – called simply artBus.

“It’s another way of really not feeling too pretentious as you’re going to these residencies … you’re packed into this school bus. We also do some programming on the bus.”

The tour will start at the Idaho Botanical Garden and then go to the Gem Center for the Arts and will end at MING Studios.

“Trying to make the arts as accessible as we can with our community on a hyperlocal level, but also the greater Boise area as well.”

But if you’re not interested in art-by-bus, in April there will be a walking tour of artist homes in Garden City, and in May you can experience creative places on bicycle. Eichelberger is interested in getting more people in front of local art, whether it’s by bus, by foot or by bike.
