A huge warehouse development in Nampa is one step closer to being built. Dubbed “Project Bronco,” the more than 850,000 square foot facility was given a conditional use permit this week by the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
Acting as a representative for Panattoni Development Company, the outfit behind the huge warehouse, attorney Deborah Nelson outlined the two-story facility.
“Inside this building will be 13 miles of conveyors, a great deal of robotics,” said Nelson. “There will be a significant investment made here – a minimum of $150 million and likely considerably more.”
Nelson was speaking during a public hearing before the Nampa Planning and Zoning Commission. She says about 350 construction jobs will be generated during the year-long construction phase. Once the facility is up and running, the developer expects to have at least 2,000 employees.
Commissioner Steve Kehoe was vocal throughout the meeting raising concerns about when peak times at the facility would be and noise.
“You’ve mentioned there would be no outside noise, but there’s going to be a lot of trucks,” Kehoe said. “Do those trucks operate at night or during the day?”
Kehoe’s questions were answered: peak times will come around the holidays and trucks will access the facility 24 hours a day.
The warehouse complex could be open as soon as late 2019.
