Nonprofit organizations are bracing for Idaho Gives. The day-long campaign to raise money for a variety of charities brought in well over a million dollars last year.
Whatever cause you support - animals, medical research or bikes for impoverished kids just to name a few - there’s likely a corresponding nonprofit organization participating in Idaho Gives. The day of online giving organized by the Idaho Nonprofit Center runs from midnight to midnight Thursday, May 2.
The day-long campaign engages organizations throughout the state with in-person events planned everywhere from Sandpoint and McCall to Shoshone and Pocatello. While some communities and nonprofits will host block parties and other live happenings, the heart of the campaign is online.
Close to 600 registered charities are participating in Thursday’s event. The organizations will be listed at IdahoGives.org where participants can also use a credit or debit card to make a donation.
The Idaho Nonprofit Center is upping the goal for this year’s event. In 2018, the group set a target of $1.5 million – that’s been raised to $1.7 million for the upcoming campaign.
When Idaho Gives started in 2013, it raised about $579,000. Last year, $1.56 million was collected for 570 charities.
