It’s going to cost you more to attend many public Idaho colleges or universities next year.
On Wednesday, state board of education officials approved tuition and fee increases for Boise State University, University of Idaho, Idaho State University and Lewis Clark State College.
Fees will also go up for popular dual-credit classes for high school students, which count towards both a high school diploma and a college degree.
According to Idaho Education News, in-state resident tuition hikes will range between 3.5 percent and 5 percent. Out of state students will pay between 3.5 and 8 percent more this fall.
Backers of the proposal point to declining funding from the state and increased costs of running a college or university as drivers for the request.
It took board members several votes to agree on the tuition and fee hikes, with discussions focusing on whether the cost of attending one school should be weighed the same as another.
