Overnight Snowfall Makes For Slick Roads, Many School Closures

Overnight snowfall has made for slick roads in the Treasure Valley this morning. Forecasters had predicted 1 to 3 inches, but said this morning the front that brought the snow moved slower than expected.  That could lead to increased totals.  The snow is expected to end this morning.

Slick roads prompted many school districts in the region to close.  Students in the Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Parma, Marsing, Melba, Middleton, Homedale and Wilder districts will not be in session. Many private, charter and montessori schools will not have class today, either.  That includes Bishop Kelly High School in Boise.

Accumulations in Ketchum, Twin Falls and McCall are expected to total one to four inches.  Snowfall could reach 15 inches in areas above Ketchum by Friday.  Besides the snow, residents there should also be prepared for temperatures that will be well below zero this weekend. Forecasters think lows could fall to 12-degrees below zero in Ketchum Saturday morning, with wind chills near 35 below.
