The Boise Bicycle Project is looking for kids to who want their own dream bike. It’s the nonprofit group’s 10th Annual Kid’s Bike Giveaway.
The goal is to give away over 400 bikes to kids who may not otherwise have access to a bicycle. They’ll also get a helmet, lock and safety lesson from the Boise Police Department.
The Project refurbishes donated bicycles and gives them away in the community.
BBP is asking anyone from the community, including school teachers and coaches to nominate kids for the bike giveaway. Those kids will be asked to draw a picture of their dream bike and/or write about what a bike would mean to them.
The Project reports that last year kids drew all kinds of bikes, from red to purple to blue. This boy wrote that with a bike he can “go places.”
Last year, BBP gave away 387 dream bikes to kids.
You can nominate a child by contacting adam@boisebicycleproject.org, calling 429-6520, or stopping into the Boise Bicycle Project on Lusk Street in Boise. Nominations will be taken until the week of December 1st.
The giveaway is December 17.
