New York musician David Poe has traveled the world making music, headlining his own shows and opening for a host of acts. So it should be no surprise that his latest album, Love Is Red, was recorded in a Berlin basement.
The singer-songwriter and his trio were recorded in a straightforward style, to capture the energy and pulse of their music. That immediacy comes through on what's essentially a live album: the songs include four new tracks, along with live versions of previously released work.
All three of Poe's full albums have been warmly received by the press. Love Is Red follows up his self-titled debut and 2002's The Late Album.
Along the way, Poe has worked with T-Bone Burnett, guitarist Marc Ribot and drummer Sim Cain.
