Feist Takes an Eclectic Turn on Her Solo Record

Feist has played in a variety of Canadian and international bands.
Feist has played in a variety of Canadian and international bands.

The Canadian "band" Feist is actually Leslie Feist, who once played in a band that was the opening act for the Ramones. She later went on to join the Toronto band Broken Social Scene; Feist's career has also intersected with bad-girl rapper Peaches and the Norwegian folk outfit Kings of Convenience.

On her new solo album, Let It Die, the Feist explores a variety of music -- including folk, bossa nova, and indie rock. The record includes memorable originals, along with a Bee Gees cover and a reworking of Ron Sexsmith's "Secret Heart."

This feature originally aired on July 1, 2005.
