The Deadly Syndrome: 'Eucalyptus'

The L.A. indie rock quartet, the Deadly Syndrome, has been playing sold out shows and creating a good amount of buzz with their hilarious series of online videos used to promote the new album.

Titled after a small bird, the Deadly Syndrome's The Ortolan is a solid indie pop record. On the opening track "Eucalyptus," lead singer "Crash" has a bright wail and power reminiscent of Win Butler in the Arcade Fire.

The cluttered drums at the beginning of "Heart" suggest more chaotic sounds, but the song cleans up and arrives at an upbeat power pop tune. The last, and title track, begins with a Casio keyboard and leads into a full, synth-driven instrumental.

All members of Deadly Syndrome contribute to writing the music. The promising act has already received great feedback in the Silver Lake scene and recently toured with the Hot Hot Heat.
