Saturday evenings on Boise State Public Radio Music are about to get even jazzier. Coming Feb. 15, we'll feature a new program for listeners. "Jazz Night in America" with host Christian McBride will air each Saturday at 7 p.m. and will be aired across the Boise State Public Radio listening area, in Boise, Twin Falls, Hailey, Salmon and McCall.

A co-production of NPR Music, WBGO and Jazz at Lincoln Center, it's the next generation of jazz programming to share this uniquely American art form with today's audiences. "Jazz Night in America" will feature storytelling and concert performances connecting enthusiasts and new fans with artists and venues.

Host Christian McBride is a Bassist extraordinaire, composer, arranger, educator, curator and one of the most important and most omnipresent figures in the jazz world for 20 years.

Beginning in 1989, this Philadelphia-born bassist moved to New York City to further his classical studies at the Juilliard School, only to be snatched up by alto saxophonist, Bobby Watson. Since then, McBride's been a sideman with the best of the very best of the genre.

Away from the bass, Christian has become quite an astute and respected spokesperson for the music. In 2005, he was officially named the co-director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and named the second Creative Chair for Jazz of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association.

Listen to "Jazz Night in America" with host Christian McBride, each Saturday night at 7 on Boise State Public Radio Music on KBSU 90.3FM in the Treasure Valley, KBSW 91.7FM in Twin Falls, 90.5FM in Hailey and KBSM 91.7FM in McCall, Idaho.
