MICHEL MARTIN, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Michel Martin.

Two songs beloved by generations of Spanish language music fans have been selected for preservation at the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress. Juan Gabriel's 1990 hit called "Amor Eterno" and Hector Lavoe's classic from 1978, "El Cantante." Enjoy.

(SOUNDBITE OF SONG, "EL CANTANTE")
