The Weeknd sets attendance records during weekend performances in London

(SOUNDBITE OF THE WEEKND SONG, "BLINDING LIGHTS")

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep. How was your weekend? The Weeknd's weekend the other weekend was great. The Canadian singer, whose given name is Abel Tesfaye, set attendance records in London. The Weeknd performed for 160,000 fans that weekend. It's a recovery for the star after some did not idolize "The Idol," his show on HBO. Maybe now, at last, he can afford an extra E for his stage name. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
