The learning gap between Idaho Latino students and their peers is significant, according to an intensive review of data from school districts across the Gem State. The Latino Learning Project, a collaboration of Idaho EdNews and the Idaho Statesman, has detailed the gaps in the English and language arts and math proficiencies, revealing significant disparities in a number of school districts in southern Idaho.
The study compared the standardized test scores (ISATs) for Latino and white students. Data was provided by the Idaho State Department of Education, obtained via a public records request. Some data was not available for districts with small student populations (those scores are redacted to protect privacy). The darker the color on the map, the larger the gap between the two groups.
