Norm Gunning

Volunteer

Norm Gunning grew up on a farm near Kuna milking cows and bucking hay bales. He met his wife Paula at Idaho State University in Pocatello where both were journalism students and that's where he began his broadcast career at the 10-watt campus FM station.

He's covered the news at television and radio stations in Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Boise, Portland and Seattle, with time out as an Air Force air traffic control officer during the Vietnam war. He's been a reporter, anchor, photographer and producer, but he spent most of his broadcast career as an assignment editor in charge of newsroom logistics. Following retirement in 2009, Norm was a volunteer for Oregon Public Broadcasting as well as a driver for a nonprofit organization that provides transportation for seniors and persons with disabilities. After residing 30 years in Portland, Norm and Paula moved to Meridian in 2016.
