Following the destructive spring flooding that stemmed from Idaho’s severe winter, federal disaster aid is available to five counties throughout the southern part of the state.
Low-interest loans from the federal government’s Small Business Administration are available for privately held nonprofits in Custer, Blaine, Camas, Elmore and Gooding Counties. Specifically, the assistance is for nonprofits that provide essential government services.
According to theTimes News, the Small Business Administration can lend up to $2 million to the nonprofits to repair or replace damaged real estate, inventory or equipment. The loans from the SBA became available following a disaster declaration for the region approved by President Donald Trump.
To help pay the bills, Economic Injury Disaster Loans are also available to assist with things like payroll costs and fixed debts.
Representatives with nonprofits impacted by this spring’s flooding are encouraged to get in touch with the Idaho Office of Emergency Management to set up a meeting with FEMA to determine eligibility.
