Nearly two weeks after general elections were held, another round of voting starts up Monday in Boise and Caldwell.
Elections in two of Idaho’s biggest cities came down to the wire earlier this month.
No one in the seven-way race for Boise mayor got more than 50% of the vote. That means it automatically turned into a runoff between the top-two vote getters, incumbent Mayor Dave Bieter and City Council President Lauren McLean.
A race for Caldwell City Council also ended without any of the three candidates getting a majority. After days of consideration, the city ordered a runoff between disgraced former state senator John McGee and Idaho Democratic Party Chair Evangeline Beechler.
Early voting in Boise is available at Boise City Hall and the Ada County Elections office. Early voting in Caldwell will also be available at the Canyon County Elections office. Any voter who requested an absentee ballot during the November election, will automatically receive one for this election.
Residents can cast their ballots early from Nov. 18 through Nov. 29. None of these locations will be open during Thanksgiving.
Election day for both cities is Dec. 3
Canyon County officials are urging people to vote early or cast an absentee ballot because they are only running a single polling place that day. Meanwhile, each of Boise’s 88 polling places will be open.
