Schools And Daycares In Ada County Could Soon Require Masks

Central District Health

On Tuesday afternoon, public health officials will consider whether to extend Ada County’s mask mandate to all schools and daycares.

Earlier this month, Central District Health’s board voted to require residents in Ada County to wear a face mask in public places when social distancing could not be maintained.

That mandate could soon be expanded to public and private K-12 schools, as well as colleges and universities within the county. Childcare facilities would be included as well.

You can read the entire draft order here

A draft order that the Central District Health board will consider Tuesday would also require face masks at all times while you’re inside a school building. The only exceptions to that would be if you’re in a private office and can close the door, or if a teacher can instruct students from more than 10 feet away.

The proposed mask order would not apply to student-athletes while they’re training or in competition “when face coverings are not feasible.”

Public health experts, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, say face coverings help people who have contracted COVID-19 from spreading it to others.

The public can watch the board’s meeting through its YouTube channel, which can be found here.
