Boise City Council Votes To Ban Hand-Held Devices While Driving

Mar 4, 2020

The City of Boise has joined a number of other Idaho communities to ban the use of hand-held devices while driving.

The vote was unanimous Tuesday night from the Boise City Council. And drivers should know the ordinance takes effect immediately. Drivers who violate the ordinance face a possible $90 fine, plus court costs. But city officials say no one will be ticketed before July 1.

Similar ordinances are already in place in Meridian, Idaho Falls, Pocatello and all of Blaine County.

Meanwhile, the Idaho legislature is currently considering a measure that would make hand-held device use while driving illegal statewide.
