Idaho Matters is joined weekly by our panel of St. Luke's and St. Alphonsus medical experts to answer more of your COVID-19 questions. Plus, State Epidemiologist Dr. Christine Hahn joins today to give a statewide perspective.
Today, our guest doctors discuss the huge spike in transmission, positive testing and hospitalizations, as well as the pros and cons of reopening schools and mask mandates.
State Epidemiologist Dr. Christine Hahn said she and many of her peers were informed Monday of a change in the process for hospital data reporting.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is now requiring that data be reported to its private database instead of a public database run by the Centers for Disease Control. Dr. Hahn called that decision disappointing, and said it was akin to changing horses in the middle of a stream. Her full answer is part of today's broadcast.
Joining Idaho Matters this week are:
- Dr. Christine Hahn, Idaho State Epidemiologist.
- Dr. David Pate, a member of the governor’s Coronavirus Task Force, and former CEO of St. Luke’s.
- Dr. Meghan McInerney, Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician and assistant director of the ICU at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.
- Dr. Rob Cavagnol, St. Luke’s Executive Medical Director.
