Eagle Snow Park Set To Open After Long Delay

After two years of planning, a snow park will open Saturday for tubing and snowboarding in Eagle.

The City of Eagle and the park’s developer, Ryan Neptune, had been trying to get the park underway for two years. But they clashed with Ada County, which owned the land and said a commercial operation wasn’t allowed under the lease agreement.

The city finally bought the property from the county earlier this year, and gave the green light to the operation.

Eagle Mayor Jim Reynolds says he’s happy with the outcome. “It took a long time to get approved; it wasn’t necessarily rolled out in the best way it could have been. After many machinations and lots of angst, we finally got it approved. I think it’s going to be a good thing.”

Reynolds says some area residents were worried about noise, but so far there have been no complaints about the snow-makers or the grooming machines. “I’m just happy it’s not contentious any longer and that we can move forward and let the kids have some fun.”

Reynolds says the city gets 10 percent of revenue.

The 2-acre park will feature skiing, snowboarding and sledding. Season passes and day rates are available.
