Another Section Of Boise Greenbelt Reopens After Destructive 2017 Flooding

City of Boise
A before and after view of the Boise Greenbelt section that's been reopened along Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Good news for those of you eager to hop on your bike and enjoy Boise’s Greenbelt this President’s Day weekend: Another section of the path has reopened.

The section on the north side of the Greenbelt bordering Veterans Memorial Park was damaged during the Boise River flooding last spring. The city announced in a press release Friday the section was fully repaired and open, reconnecting a Garden City and Boise by way of Veterans Memorial Parkway.

“We appreciate the public’s patience as construction crews completed these repairs,” said Doug Holloway, director of the Boise Parks and Recreation Department. “Our planning and design team used lessons learned from the historic flooding last season to minimize future impacts to this section of path.”

The repairs to the north side of the Greenbelt in this section will cost taxpayers about $1.2 million.

Other parts of the popular bike and walking path remained closed with detours in place, as construction along the north side of the Greenbelt between 36th and Main Streets.

Check out the remaining closures below.
