The Boise State Broncos are set to host their third consecutive Mountain West Championship after beating Fresno State in 2017 and losing to them in 2018. This year, the Broncos will face Hawaii who Boise State defeated on the blue in October. But despite their 19th place ranking and winning record, they might get shut out of the Cotton Bowl. We catch up with reporter Dave Southorn of The Athletic about their bowl chances, several months after we talked with him about the team's early season prospects.

Renowned Boise State football coach, Lyle Smith, died Tuesday night at the age of 101. He left a legacy of dedication and victory within the Bronco athletics program.

Smith graduated from Moscow high school 1934 and attended the University of Idaho, receiving his bachelor’s in education with a minor in history. After teaching at Moscow High and serving in the naval reserve during WW11, Smith returned to U of I for graduate school.

The highest paid employee on Idaho's payroll is eligible for bigger bonuses under a newly amended contract.

The Idaho State Board of Education agreed Thursday to up how much Boise State University's head football coach Bryan Harsin can make in bonuses each year.

Harsin will now be eligible for a $50,000 bonus if the Broncos become the champion of its six-team division. Previously, the amount was $15,000. Harsin could also see a $75,000 bonus if the team wins its athletic conference's title game — a bump from the former $50,000.

Curt Apsey is entering his second year as the athletic director at Boise State University. The longtime Bronco was called back to the school last summer after a short stint at a small college in Montana.

Today, Apsey oversees a football program that represents a national brand. Boise State plays nearly all of its games on national TV, but has also struggled to sell out home games. And this summer, word came that the Big 12 Conference – a member of college football’s so called Power Five – was looking to expand, and that Boise State was a potential candidate to join.

Boise State is reportedly among 17 schools that will make a formal pitch to officials from the Big 12 to join the athletic conference.

ESPN's Brett McMurphy reports Big 12 administrators will host video conferences with representatives of the interested schools. Boise State is currently a member of the lower profile Mountain West Conference.
