At over $1 million, the prize money for Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo is the most it's ever been. But that's not enough to stop the country's top tie-down ropers and steer wrestlers from boycotting America's largest outdoor rodeo.

For 17 years, the City of Eagle hosted the rodeo named for the Treasure Valley town. When the lease ran out, city officials and rodeo organizers scrambled to find a new location. They got the job done just in time to kick off the 2018 Eagle Rodeo and their efforts are captured in the film "The Best Small Town Throwdown Rodeo." The documentary is showing at The Egyptian Theatre on Sunday, June 2 and Hope Manna, the film's director and Kellie Allred, the film's producer join Idaho Matters to talk about the Eagle Rodeo.

A $400,000 purse makes the Snake River Stampede one of the top stops on the rodeo circuit. This Tuesday, barrel-riders, bullfighters, bronco-busters and their fans will descend on Nampa for the 103rd running of the Snake River Stampede and on Monday's Idaho Matters we'll talk about the legacy of rodeo in the West and more than a century of stampeding in the Gem State.

It's the 20th anniversary of the Snake River Stampeders Night Light Drill Team, an all-volunteer group of precision riding horsewomen who perform in the dark, covered with colored lights, every year at the annual Nampa rodeo.

The Snake River Stampede has been around for 102 years in Nampa and features all the rodeo favorites of roping and riding.
