For nearly 100 years, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards has been recognizing the creative work of high school students across America. Only sixteen students are chosen in the entire country, and this year, Moscow, Idaho's own Jieyan Wang won gold, and a $10,000 college scholarship.

The Narrative TV Initiative is a Boise State University program that gives students real world experience in the television production process through the creation from start to finish of a show.

Emily Ruskovich's debut novel, Idaho, centers on a mysterious and shocking act that fractures the lives of an entire family, and looks at the influences and reverberations from that event covering a span of nearly 50 years.  In June 2019, the novel won the International Dublin Literary Award, one of the most prestigious honors in the industry, and the largest prize awarded to a single-work of English literature.

She's a former journalist, who wrote books on the side, until she took the plunge to become a full-time writer in 2015. Now Brenda Stanley is an author with eight books to her credit. When her novel, "The Color of Snow" did well, she decided to quit her job in journalism and focus on writing. Her latest book, "The Treasure of Cedar Creek" is a mystery/thriller, set in the Idaho wilderness.

Rocky Bates struggled from the time he was adopted with medical issues. In the book “Empty Jacket,” his mother Vicky Bates chronicles Rocky’s struggles with illness, his childhood and his sudden death at age ten.

When we spoke to Idaho author Anthony Doerr in 2010 about his award winning book "Memory Wall," we asked him what his next novel would be about. 

“It’s about radio of all things,” Doerr answered. “It’s about the power of radio. I’m just trying to bring a reader back to that time when it was still kind of a miracle to hear the voice of a stranger in your home.”
