It’s an exciting time to be a listener, member or staffer at Boise State Public Radio because in 2015 the station will continue its transition into becoming an even more reliable and robust conduit to NPR news and talk programming, regional and local news coverage, and an eclectic blend of music programming.
Last spring, Boise State Public Radio relocated from its temporary home on the Boise State campus into a brand new broadcast facility at the Yanke Family Research Park. The move came with a few technical challenges, many of which we have addressed and continue to monitor.
Here’s an update on how we are making your listening experience better.
Equipment: We have a fantastic new facility to broadcast from in Boise. But, like all new facilities, we’ve had some bugs to work out of our broadcast operations. We continue to make substantial progress toward building a more reliable service. Over the next few months, our engineers will provide you with an insider’s look at ways Boise State Public Radio is improving.
On Air: We’ve kept you up-to-date on intermittent broadcast interruptions and will continue to do so. Those interruptions can mean anything from a satellite re-feed to a transmitter failure. Rest assured that each day we are working to improve Boise State Public Radio’s on-air performance.
We continue to make great strides in improving your public radio stations. Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect in 2015.
Equipment Upgrades: Our KBSU transmission was recently improved by a brand new on-air processor, and an increase in audio volume on our C24 classical music feed. We’ve also made significant changes to the digital side of our automation system which helps them run more smoothly, delivering a better service to your radio.
On Air Repairs: We continue to make great strides in repairing much of the silence and intermittent glitches that have affected KBSX. We’re also working to upgrade KBSX and KBSU’s live web streams (we’ll tell you more about that very soon!).
