U.S. Official: Released Americans Have Departed Iran

A senior U.S. official says the plane carrying Americans who had been imprisoned by Iran has left Tehran.

The Obama administration official isn't saying whether all four Americans were on the plane, just that those "who wished to depart Iran have left."

Among those released as part of a deal between the American and Iranian governments is Saeed Abedini, a pastor from Boise. On Twitter, his wife Naghmeh said her husband has left Iran.

"Praise God! Saeed finally made it out of Iranian soil and Is now on a plane heading to Switzerland! Thank you for your prayers!" - @NaghmehAbedini via Twitter

The publisher of The Washington Post is confirming that reporter Jason Rezaian has "safely left the country" with his wife after a "545-day nightmare."

The U.S. official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the developments.
