Ada County will now require all employees and anyone entering a county building to wear a mask, as the area battles a large surge in coronavirus cases.
The new policy applies to all county buildings, including the courthouse in downtown Boise. County officials say masks will be available to those who don’t have one or forgot to bring their own.
State officials have confirmed more than 1,200 COVID-19 cases in Ada County in the last three weeks.
Public health experts say face coverings can help slow the spread of coronavirus. Following social distancing guidelines, like staying more than six feet apart from others, and practicing good hygiene also protect against transmission.
Ada County commissioners say following these practices will help the county lift restrictions. If not, they say the county may have to impose further limits on public gatherings and close some businesses.
