A new study from Oregon State University finds snowpack is in decline across the West.
The research shows levels are down at more than 90 percent of snow monitoring sites – a full third of which are experiencing significant declines.
Matt Guilhem spoke to the author of the study, OSU professor Philip Mote, who’s the director of the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute.
Mote says the amount of snowpack lost is about the equivalent of all the water in Lake Mead.
The full report by Mote and his co-authors can be found here.
