New Plymouth-based company Cheeky's is ranked 356th on Inc. Magazine's annual list of the 5,000 fastest growing private firms. The retailer is one of 23 businesses in Idaho to make the list.
Cheeky’s CEO and founder Jessi Roberts started her retail shop in a 400-square-foot store in New Plymouth. The clothing line is marketed to middle class women who live or admire a country lifestyle.
“I quickly realized that to feed my family of six that I had to start figuring out ways to branch outside of just my town of 1,400 [people]," says Roberts. "But I still wanted to make sure that I was authentic and genuine to the lifestyle that I was selling in my town.”
That was in 2011. More recently, Cheeky’s has grown exponentially – by 1,400 percent in the last three years.
“Well I don’t think I ever imagined it would be this.”
In 2017, the company’s revenue surpassed $4 million. The clothing line has expanded to jewelry, cosmetics, shoes and more. Cheeky’s employs 29 people at the Idaho headquarters, and what started as a tiny shop has taken over about a quarter of the business space in downtown New Plymouth.
Some of the 22 other Idaho companies on the list include companies that sell software, real estate and organic food.
