Researchers have found a way to rank the healthiest counties in Idaho. Blaine County comes out on top.
Where you live matters to your health. That’s according to The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin. Their 2012 County Health Rankings break down the healthiest counties in Idaho.
Blaine County is #1 on the list. Madison, Latah, and Franklin are next. Ada county, gets ranked ninth. That’s lower than in past years. Canyon and Twin Falls counties are 24th and 27th, respectively.
The study has two rankings. Health Outcomes represent how healthy a county is. It's based on mortality, or length of life, and morbidity, or quality of life Health Factors are what influences the health of a county. That includes things like health behaviors, clinical care, social and economic factors, and physical environment. That includes factors such as smoking and alcohol use, sexual activity, education, and environmental quality. Crime rates and the number of fast food restaurants were also considered.
Under Health Factors, Madison County gets the top spot followed by Blaine, Teton, and Franklin. Ada county is sixth, Twin Falls 15th, and Canyon 34th.
