The Ridge to Rivers partnership released a shiny new map of Boise area trails last week. The new map is currently in beta testing while they collect feedback on what features people use the most.
Developed by Ada County Information Technology using unmanned aircrafts, the map is mobile friendly and allows users to locate themselves within the 3D images. It displays information about each trail, including length, acceptable uses, amenities and related trails.
Ridge to Rivers hopes the map will appeal to trail users of all types. The high-definition images could prove useful in planning out hikes, runs and rides and they hope that it can help emergency services in the future.
Once complete, it will display over 190 miles of trail through the Boise Foothills.
The map is accessible now alongside Ridge to Rivers’ existing one, but they intend it to permanently replace their current map sometime in 2019.
