Oregon Governor Orders State Agencies To Conserve Water

As drought conditions worsen across the state, Oregon Governor Kate Brown issued an executive order Tuesday to help conserve water.

Oregon’s drought is spreading. More than half the state was already in drought last week when Brown declared an emergency in three more counties.

Now, she’s issuing an executive order for all state agencies to review how much water they use and develop a plan for conserving it. The goal is to reduce state agency water use by 15 percent before by the end of 2020.

Each agency will have to report to the governor’s office by November 1. Brown announced plans to issue this order earlier this month.
