Andy Huang

Since retiring from HP, Andy Huang lives a random existence, pursuing varied interests.  Perhaps that is the story of his life, having been trained as a rocket scientist, but declining to design bumpers for Ford in favor of laying rails and driving spikes to build the Internet,  and later, paying for these sins as an assistant professor at BSU.

Though the parent and spouse of Idaho natives, Andy has only lived longer in Idaho than anywhere else, choosing to remain foreign-born. He graduated Kindergarten from Scraggy Hill Elementary School in Port Jefferson on Long Island, NY, following later with Lexington High School at the birthplace of American Liberty. He earned, barely, a BS in Aerospace and Mechanical Sciences from Princeton University, and, more securely, a Doctorate in Computer Science from Brandeis University.

Andy moved to Idaho for the potatoes (not corn) and the fishing  in 1993, but has since found a few other things on offer in Idaho. A lifelong cyclist, he has enjoyed Idaho’s roads and mountains on two wheels, as well as in hiking boots and waders. He has recently taken up tree climbing.

Public radio is a necessity in Andy’s life. Few media sources provide the fairness, balance and completeness that public radio does. And KBSU’s commitment and investment in local news brings media back home, where it counts the most.
