Kendal Shaber

Kendal is a 4th generation Idahoan. After years of living and working overseas, she and her family returned to a very different Boise in 2016 to care for parents. She is enjoying the diversity that has come to the state as well as the gift of the Greenbelt, fabulous city parks, and the ever-expanding public service role Boise State Public Radio has in contributing to a better-informed public.

Before moving overseas, Kendal worked as a community coordinator and development director for an NPR-affiliated network in the deep south. There she developed a passion for non-commercial Public Radio’s contribution to civil discourse, a deeper understanding of our complex world, and the relationship between citizens and government. She continues to appreciate the giant journalistic talents with compelling voices and faces for radio that value substance over flash. Public Broadcasting is a daily source of inspiration, education, curiosity and conversation for Kendal. She is optimistic about its future because of its adaptable and cost-effective medium, its commitment to presenting well researched stories within context and most of all because of broad community support.

Kendal is an historian and has worked in education and local government overseas. She also has served on a number of boards dedicated to child welfare and libraries.
