Four Idaho Websites Get National Award For Government Transparency

Three Idaho school districts and a county have been honored for their websites. The non-profit government transparency organization Sunshine Review gave its annual Sunny Awards to the 247 government websites it deemed most transparent.

The Boise, Blaine County and Caldwell School Districts made the list. Canyon was the only Idaho county to show up.

Sunshine Review gave Boise schools’ and Canyon County’s websites perfect scores. Blaine County lost points for a faulty search function and not explaining how to request public records. Caldwell schools lost points for not giving contact information for elected officials and not posting all contract information.

Idaho is at the low end of states in terms of Sunny Award numbers, but a few states didn’t get any this year. That includes Nevada and Montana.

Last year only two Idaho government websites were honored for transparency; The Bonneville and Pocatello-Chubbuck School Districts.
