On His First Visit To Idaho, British Consul General Looks To Strengthen Ties

One of the United Kingdom’s top representatives in the United States passed through Boise recently. Andrew Whittaker is the U.K.’s Consul General in San Francisco. Headquartered in Northern California, he oversees consular affairs across seven states in the West.

During his first trip to Idaho, the career diplomat stopped by Boise State Public Radio and shared thoughts on the Gem State’s commercial ties with Britain, the “special relationship” between the U.S. and U.K., and Brexit.

Whittaker’s in year two of a four-year posting at the San Francisco consulate. Before working in the U.S., he held diplomatic posts in Spain and the Middle East.
