Sara Studebaker is a Boise native. She graduated from Boise High School and has been a biathlon competitor since 2003. She represented the U.S. in biathlon during the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Since then, she’s been training hard, ready to take another shot, this time in Sochi, Russia.

SARA STUDEBAKER

Hometown: Boise, ID

Sport: Biathlon

Birthday: Oct. 7, 1984

Most Recent Team: U.S. Biathlon National Team

Stats: 2010 Olympian, 2x top-15 individual World Cup results, 3x top-8 World Cup relay results, NCAA All-American and NCAA Championship (Dartmouth College, 2007) in Skiing

Knight on the 2014 Sochi Games: “I'm so excited to be returning to the Olympics to represent my country, family and friends," says Studebaker. "The second time around, I feel more relaxed and know better what to expect. Our team (U.S. Biathlon) is poised to have historic results in Sochi and I feel so lucky to be a part of this group.

What gives her the competitive edge?: "Biathlon is such a mental sport," says Studebaker. "Anything can happen; that's part of what makes biathlon so exciting, but it also means that you have to be on your game and not let things rattle you. I am a strong mental athlete and know I can push myself to the limit, especially when conditions are tough. Biathlon is an individual sport most of the time, but having a strong team is a huge advantage. We have worked hard as a group to gain an edge in being a tight-knit group. I couldn't ask for a better team to be heading to Sochi with!"
