Ahead Of Boise Visit, Peter Yeo Discusses Government Shutdown And United Nations

United Nations Foundation

Peter Yeo, a 20-year veteran of the U.S. State Department and Capitol Hill and current senior vice president of the United Nations Foundations, is in Idaho this week. Yeo, who also serves as president of the Better World Campaign, is the guest of the Frank Church Institute at Boise State and will also address the Boise Committee on Foreign Relations.

Before joining the U.N., Yeo was deputy staff director for the House Foreign Affairs Committee and deputy assistant secretary of state.

Yeo spoke with Weekend Edition host George Prentice about the partial federal government shutdown, its impact on the U.S. State Department and why "great nations" should pay dues to the U.N.
