In their new book, “An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook’s Battle for Domination,”reporters Cecilia Kang and Sheera Frenkel unpack the inner workings of the world’s largest social media site.

The book draws from over 400 interviews with people close to the company, from current and former employees to Facebook executives.

It examines a series of scandals within the company and how those scandals were dealt with. They include the hacking of the Clinton campaign ahead of the 2016 election and the use of Facebook by insurrectionists ahead of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

We sit down with the authors of “An Ugly Truth” for this edition of Extremely Online.
