NPR's Peter Sagal Brings Popular News Quiz To Theaters, Including In Idaho

Courtesy of NPR/ Tony Nagelmann

You hear NPR’s popular quiz show Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! every Saturday morning on KBSX. Thursday night the radio show will be beamed into select cinemas across the U.S. including in Boise for the first time. You’ll see host Peter Sagal along with Carl Kasell and the whole cast of characters live on the big screen.

Sagal says the show’s happening because “People said ‘We keep going to movie theaters and they keep showing us movies when what we really want is a high definition news quiz.’ And finally we decided we can’t ignore the cries of America any longer.”

Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! happens weekly before a live audience. So streaming into movie theaters, Sagal says, won’t be all that different. But there will be some extra elements to the show. For the first time, Wait Wait will feature a musical act. Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings – the group played in Boise during Treefort Music Fest – will perform.

Sagal says they’ll also have a set for the first time and a special guest, “He’s special squared. It’s Steve Martin.”

You can watch the show live in select theaters in Boise Thursday night beginning at 7 p.m. You'll find more information about tickets here.
