Hey, Idaho musicians: ever dreamed of playing your tunes behind the venerable Tiny Desk at NPR? Well dreamers, your audition has arrived.
All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen announced the second-annual Tiny Desk Concert Contest in a goofy video in December, asking unsigned bands from all over the country to send in a submission.
Bands have until Feb. 2, 2016 to submit their video.
Last year's inaugural contest vaulted Fantastic Negrito to fame among an outstanding 7,000 (!) submissions. The California musician produced a captivating performance filmed in a freight elevator, and got his big break when NPR chose him.
Here are this year's contest deets:
"Make a new video of an original song behind a desk of your choosing. It could be the desk at your office, your home or simply your vivid imagination. Last year, desks wound up on mountaintops and ocean bottoms. I'm looking for a great unknown artist, so if you already have a recording contract, you'll have to sit this one out. Between Jan. 12 and Feb. 2, 2016, upload that video to YouTube and fill out our entry form, which will appear at npr.orgtinydeskcontest on Jan. 12." - NPR Music
One of the Idaho bands that stood out last year -- though alas, did not "win" -- was Sheep Bridge Jumpers. Check out the bluegrass band from Ketchum below.
If you plan to submit a video, we would love to know. Tweet us @KBSX915 or leave a comment below. And good luck!
