Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra To Play For Holiday Travelers

Traveling during the holidays can be stressful for anyone. But, the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is trying to take the edge off for those heading to the airport on Saturday.

For about an hour, the holiday jingles you might be used to hearing at the Boise Airport won’t be coming over the loudspeakers. They’ll be coming from orchestra members dressed up in holiday gear.

The group will play holiday favorites, like “I’ll Be Home For Christmas," “Jingle Bells” and “Let It Snow."

Jennifer Drake is the music director of the group. She says she’s played for travelers at the Boise Airport in the past and hopes the orchestra members will get as much out of it as the audience will.

“It’s just that same feeling of bringing just a little bit more happiness and joy to the holiday season, especially for road-weary travelers or families reuniting for the first time – maybe all year,” Drake says.

Even if you’re not flying out of town, you can still watch the performance. The group will play near the TSA checkpoint at the airport’s atrium starting at 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
