25 Years of Healing and Remembrance: Minidoka National Historic Site
25 Years of Healing and Remembrance: Minidoka National Historic Site
Join us for a community celebration marking Minidoka National Historic Site’s 25th anniversary as a unit of the National Park Service—honoring its vital role in teaching the lessons of the unjust WWII incarceration of Japanese Americans.
The evening features a performance by Sangha Taiko, a Japanese American drumming group sponsored by the Idaho-Oregon Buddhist Temple in Ontario, Oregon, where many people unjustly incarcerated at Minidoka resettled after camp, a special recognition of Neil King, Minidoka’s first NPS superintendent, the premiere of the short film “Minidoka” by artist and musician Kishi Bashi and filmmaker Justin Taylor-Smith with new original compositions, and a live performance by Kishi Bashi.
