Climate Volunteer Day: Tree Wrapping

Climate Volunteer Day: Tree Wrapping

The Boise River riparian corridor is a vital habitat for a wide range of native plants and wildlife. Black cottonwoods and willows play a key role in this ecosystem, but they're also a favorite food and building material for the American beaver.
Boise Parks and Recreation manages approximately 25 miles of this important habitat and is seeking volunteers to help protect young trees from beaver damage by installing protective wire around their trunks.
In addition to wrapping trees, volunteers may assist with other riparian habitat maintenance and enhancement efforts, including noxious weed removal and erosion control.
All necessary tools, materials, and training will be provided. The specific location will be emailed to registered volunteers prior to the event.
