BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Japanese Association is delighted to announce Japan Day 2025 at the
Gene Harris Bandshell, Julia Davis Park, on Sunday, September 21 from 12-4pm. This festival is one
of Idaho’s largest Japanese culture celebrations, featuring traditional performances, cultural booths,
food, and family friendly activities.
This year’s program includes Japanese dance, Taiko drumming, Sanshin, Koto (Japanese harp),
martial arts, origami, and traditional Japanese festival games. Guests can explore cultural displays,
buy traditional Japanese items, enjoy authentic performances, and experience This festival features
display booths and live Japanese performances including traditional Japanese dance, Koto (Japanese
harp), Sanshin, Taiko (traditional Japanese drumming), martial arts, Origami, and more.
This year’s special guests include:
Mitsuki Dazai, a Koto master from Oregon, performs across Japan, the US, Europe, South
America, and Canada. A graduate of Tokyo’s Kunitachi College of Music and the Sawai Koto
Institute, she appears in Shanti Samsara's world music for environmental consciousness. Since
2002, she has been a guest lecturer and artistic director of the Oregon Koto-Kai.
Rinsen Wakayagi (Rin no Kai LA) is a Shihan-level Nihonbuyo dancer with 40 years of
experience. She founded "Rin no Kai LA" and has performed all throughout LA. Formerly a
Japanese Jidaigeki (Samurai play) actress, she established the NPO Pacific Theatre Production
Corp to promote Japanese culture to youth globally and teaches Tea Ceremony and Kimono
dressing in the US and Japan.
About the Idaho Japanese Association
The Idaho Japanese Association (IJA) was founded in 2008 to support Japanese citizens living in Idaho and to share
Japanese culture with the community. With nearly 1000 members, the IJA hosts multiple cultural events each year,
with Japan Day being its largest.
