Applesauce-maker GoGo squeeZ says it plans to open an $85 million food processing facility in Nampa, Idaho that will employ at least 230 people.
The Idaho Department of Commerce announced the company's Idaho investment in a press release Thursday.
The Idaho Statesman reports the average wage at the new facility will be $16 an hour, more than double Idaho's minimum wage.
GoGo squeeZ's parent company Materne North America is headquartered in New York. They make various kinds of fruit-in-a-pouch. Materne's other facility is in Traverse City, Mich. The company's new Nampa processing facility will take over a vacant Micron Technology building which has been empty since 2007.
The Nampa facility is expected to be producing GoGo squeeZ products by the end of 2014.
Nampa Mayor Bob Henry says this is welcome news for his community. "It's an excellent example of local and state governments working together to boost Idaho's economy," Henry said in a press release.
