Idaho’s jobless rate has dipped below 5 percent for the first time in almost six years.
The Idaho Labor Department reports May’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate was 4.9 percent, that's as total employment grew by 1,000 jobs from April to May.
In May of 2013, nearly 50,000 Idahoans didn’t have jobs. This May, about 38,000 people were out of work.
The Labor Department says sectors driving May’s employment growth included financial services, real estate, health care, hospitality, and natural resources.
The national jobless rate is 6.3 percent. Idaho was one of 20 states that saw a decrease in their monthly unemployment rate.
